I wonder what is wrong with the world? Or, more to the point, what is wrong with the people in it? The news these days is so incredibly sad. It seems to me that there is no safe place on earth to be. We go to bed with thoughts of seeing the morning sky and the faces of the people we love, and we are damn lucky when we wake up to face another day.

Compared to all the problems in the world we have nothing to complain about. We have our health, and more importantly we have our lives. The people in law enforcement deserve all the admiration and respect we can muster. What they do every day is amazing. Knowing that each day they go to work they are possibly facing absolute danger. Their bravery is to be emulated.

My heart breaks for those four RCMP officers and now the judge in Atlanta who was murdered today. I can't imagine how their families must feel. I do know that Chris has gathered almost everything he needs to apply to the RCMP and is getting ready to submit his application. I worry over him and at the same time I am so proud of him.

So, tonight I will again lay down my head, and dream sweet dreams. Safe in the knowledge that when I wake tomorrow I won't have to fight someone for my life. We should all be so lucky.
